Kaimei Rock Festival (カイメイ・ロック・フェスティバル) is the 16th episode of the Sket Dance anime.
Summary
The time for Kaimei High School's famous Kaimei Rock Festival has finally arrived! The Sket Dan trio end up on three separate competing bands, each playing a different instrument. While practicing in an empty music room, Bossun meets Ayano - a violin prodigy who lacks self-confidence. She helps him rehearse and he tries to help her gain some confidence in her abilities. Everything seems to be going well, until Himeko receives a phone call from her band's vocalist that might spell the worst for their upcoming performance.
Plot
The morning starts with Bossun getting ready to go to school and Rumi being astounded by the performance of the violinist prodigy namely Sagisaki. Rumi then dreams of becoming a violin performer too.
Bossun then arrives at the Sket Dance club room, only to find Hime practicing her guitar and explaining that she joined a band for the Kaimei Rock Festival. Switch also arrives and explains a further detail about it, that the principal got a guitar from overseas, in which the two doubted the validity of this information.
As days passed, Bossun could only watch Hime and Switch practice their instruments. Hime then taught Bossun some basics on guitar and let him borrow a bass guitar and eventually was invited. Bossun then sends a message to the Student Council members and that he would await the Rock Festival and their band. This made Hime, Switch and Bossun practice harder in the room, to which made Bossun leave the room and practice at the music room instead.
As he arrives at the music room, he practices the tune and then a girl with a violin arrives, only to learn that she was the girl that Rumi talked about that performed in the TV. Though, after Bossun talked more and more with the girl, he learned that she had low self confidence about her skills in violin.
More days passed and they practice harder and Bossun talks more frequently with Sagisaki and learns her past. Then, at the end of the episode, he is wonders why Hime was sad and he asks the reason in which he is shown to be shocked.
